Weather was perfect, thanks much Scorpio for getting everyone together, we even got to save a hostage.
Thanks scorpio64 for coordinating another great meetup!
Yes Thank you @scorpio64 it was great. Never been to Stafford Forge and it was good to see that place. Also Happy Birthday I didn’t realize it was your birthday.
Ha! That was fun!
Thanks Ed for organizing and everyone else for coming out - good to see some forum peeps again and meet some for the first time.
Special thanks to Mr. M. (don’t want to real name drop and wasn’t sure what your forum handle is) for sharing his Beretta 1301, Garand and lever action rifle with me and the kid. Shooting a garand has been on my bucket list for a long time!
Also appreciate the shooting stance instruction and target setup assistance from H.E., thank you!
Zack’s face was priceless when I told him he just shot an 80 year old rifle.
Which rifle is 80?
My Garand
Barrel and receiver 1944
Springfield Armory
My Garand is only 60, it has a 54 receiver and was in Korea but got sent back at some point to Red River Armory where it was re-barreled with an FN barrel and the op-rod upgraded to National Match. Thenit ended up with CMP and I’m the second owner (well, after uncle sam).
The first mag I shot was filled with surplus ammo from 1942. It was magical. It’s actually more accurate than I thought a Garand would be, it’s under 3 moa.
I’d love to fire a 1903A3 Springfield.
My eyes are terrible, bought my Garand and was introduced to peep sights and never looked back. Ringing steel at 135 yards is a rush, would love to stretch that out farther one day.
Damn, really wish i was able to make it… I was bringing my 1891 Argentine Mauser for members to shoot. Its about an old of a rifle someone can safely shoot. Lotta fun!
Next time!
Sure, anyone can hit a clay bird, the real question is, how many hulls made it in the box.
90% probably. Better than my rate for busting clays.
