Shotgun AND Rifle Shoot - STAFFORD FORGE

South Jersey Clay Shoot & Rifle Range Day

Howdy folks. It’s about time we get together again to turn some money into noise. Come join us 11-3-24 at the Stafford Forge WMA shotgun range for a morning of clay busting and paper punching fun.

200-3531422351

WHO: You, family, friends.
WHERE: Stafford Forge WMA trap range (GSP Exit 58)
WHEN: November 3rd 2024
TIME: 0900 (we will be setting up at 0830)

If you will be joining, please let us know how many will attend and what you are bringing so we can plan for supplies.

Shooting commences at 0900 and keeps going until we get bored, run out of ammo, or hear mom calling us home. Shoots usually go until about 1300, leaving plenty of time for everyone to stop in at any time and join the party.

As always, these meet-ups are informal gatherings, just plain old fun to promote shooting sports and encourage training, please feel free to bring friends and family.

Shooters of all experience levels are welcome, if you have never shot clays or a rifle before, or want some tips on improving your skills, this is your chance to dust off that shotgun or rifle you bought years ago and gain some needed experience.

What you will need.

CLAYS: Bring your shotgun(s), as much #7.5 or #8 lead target/field loads as you want to shoot, and depending on how much you want to shoot, a carton of clay pigeons would be great. Don’t forget eyes and ears. Also recommended is a chair, sun screen, insect repellent, and something to drink.

Stafford has an excellent 100 yd range with five or six lanes for rifle up to 30 cal. I will be bringing my hog hammer (AR-10 with thermal optic) if anyone wants to check it out.

If you don’t have a shotgun and just want to see what clay shoot’n is all about, a loaner pump action will be available.

Basic Checklist

  • Shotgun/Rifle

  • Eye and ear protection (mandatory)
  • Clay targets (optional but recommended for volume shooters)
  • Shell pouch (optional)
  • Folding chair (optional)

Count me in… whatever day I’ll try to make it.

Both dates also work for me, may have brother-in-law and nephew tagging along.

Does the clay range allow lead shot?
Assume rifle range is paper only?

The more the merrier.

Clay range is cool with lead shot and rifle range is cool with various targets as long as its not dangerous or messy. spinners and 3D targets are fine.

I have a hanging steel target I will bring then, thanks for setting this up.

Either date should be good for me.

Reserving the date.

almost 2 hrs from here…hmmm

I thought about Collier mills and Assunpink but they are steel shot only trap ranges. On top of that… they are a pain in the ass to get to.

Not for me, practically my backyard.

Does anyone know if they have shooting benches on the rifle range?

I believe the updated all of the ranges to concrete benches

Assupink is steel only and colliers mills has no trap range to the best of my knowledge

They have excellent concrete benches in five or six lanes and off to the left some space for BYO table or shooting prone. Stable smooth and level

you will want to bring a pad or towel or cloth to spread on the bench to protect your gear from scratches

Thanks guys.

Does anyone know if you can shoot 7.92 (8mm Mauser) at the WMA? Is that still considered to be in the .30 caliber family or would that be restricted from use there?
