Platkin V. Glock

NJOAG didn’t win anything. The court simply denied a motion to dismiss. Just means the state gets to continue suing Glock.

Agreed - motions to dismiss are a standard tactic in almost every “major” suit and are very frequently denied.

That fact that NJOAG is touting this as a “big win” is…interesting.

NJOAG is apparently subpoeana-ing EVERY SINGLE NJ FFL for Glock sales information since 2016 in relation to this lawsuit:

I keep wondering…why? If NJOAG just wanted stats on number of Glocks sold they can just ask NJSP for executed purchase permits.

So why do this? Use the Glock case as an excuse to “audit” NJ FFL’s for NJSP reporting compliance?

Ok, this makes some kind of sense-the NJSP permit info can’t be made public:

…It is not immediately clear why New Jersey needs these records, given the state already maintains a de facto registry for handguns through its pistol permitting system. It could be that the Attorney General wants to make these records public, as under New Jersey law and in a small nod towards respecting privacy, firearm registration records are

exempt from public disclosure

under the state’s laws. …

F that and f him. No good reason to make this info public. Only bad can come from it. Let the lawsuits fly.

This was the first thing I thought of, when you mentioned the NJSP could just “share” their data.

We know how the Dems work, if they could legally access it before… they would have…

That information is already available via the NJSP - they’re using it to try to dox legal firearm owners.

It just amazes me how much time and money this State wastes on trying to infringe on people’s rights.

How about all the records requested other than sales/transfer documents from FFL’s. How many FFL’s could we have in the whole state? Hundreds? This lawsuit will be floating around for many years.

The subpoena demands the following records from each FFL:

1.Documents sufficient to show all sales and/or transfers of Glock Handguns from You to New Jersey Customers.

2.Documents sufficient to show what portion, if any, of the sales and/or transfers identified in response to Request No. 1 were made to civilians rather than law enforcement customers.

3.Documents sufficient to show how You receive inventory of Glock handguns.

4.Any contracts and/or agreements between you and Glock.

5.All Communications with Glock concerning the sale and/or marketing of Glock Handguns.

6.All Communications with Glock concerning Switches or the capacity of Glock Handguns for automatic fire.

7.All Documents concerning the marketing and/or advertising of Glock Handguns to New Jersey Customers.

Glock switches are illegal in New Jersey and are not marketed or sold by any FFLs.
