Platkin V. Glock

Dunno the details yet, but suspect this is modeled after another suit against Glock for “making their handguns so easily convertible to full auto”.

More once I find the actual filing.

In the first action of the coalition, Attorney General Platkin and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison filed lawsuits in their respective state courts against gunmaker Glock, for violations of their respective State laws. The lawsuits allege that Glock handguns can easily be configured to fire automatically as illegal machine guns by affixing an inexpensive add-on component commonly known as a “Glock switch.”

The actual lawsuit:

Does the NJ office of the attorney general do anything except try to infringe on the rights of law abiding citizens? Serious question.

They blame the guns/gun owners/manufacturers instead of admitting what the REAL problem is……

Gawd, thank you Elon for freeing Twitter/X:

“It’s a small add-on component the size of a dime or a Lego piece that when added to the rear of a Glock pistol makes that pistol function as a machine gun,” Platkin told reporters. "A switch enables a Glock to automatically fire up to 1,200 rounds per minute,

LOL… OK Platkin, now try that with the 10 round mags you morons voted into law. How many seconds would they last?? How many Glocks have 100+ round mags???

I love how they pass these laws and start lawsuits, and they are actually clueless on how the firearms actually work… :man_facepalming:

It’s simply lawfare. Harassment to Glock, and the AG making it appear he’s tough on crime.

Alas, once again, the AG fails to address the REAL problem.

Screw them all!

What I find incredibly frustrating is that this:

  1. As one example, Glock could have simply made its back plate far more difficult
for a layperson to remove, for instance through the use of specialized screws or proprietary fasteners.

Is followed a few paragraphs later by this:

  1. As noted above, Glock has made only one modest, immaterial change to its Gen5
handgun series, by adding a small plastic piece that can easily be filed away in a few minutes. This minor modification was not a genuine, reasonable, bona fide solution to the problem presented by the ease with which Glock customers can switch their Glock handguns to operate as illegal machine guns. Thus, a material number of Gen5 handgun users continue to affix auto sears and use those guns as machine guns.

So you’re saying that these criminals who can acquire illegal conversion devices from overseas, and are willing to file down parts of their gun can’t acquire proprietary screwdrivers?

Also complaining that Gen3 Glocks are still being sold which is directly caused by California’s roster of “safe handguns”.

  1. In the United States, Glock continues to sell Gen3 and Gen4 handguns nationwide
and has not made any change to their design.

Reading through the 69 pages caused me to roll my eyes at so many ignorant statements that I’m absolutely positive this isn’t looking to fix anything except making Glock’s business in NJ so costly that they’ll simply pull out and stop selling in this market, especially that they’re not going after any of the Glock Gen3 clones that are on the market, especially since the Gen3 guns are the most evil of them all, according to the AG.

Good. He can take all of the LEO Glocks offline.

As Anthony would say, "Rules for me, but not for me. 3rd class citizens are what we are.
