Wonder if these were the same drones that flew around for 17 days around Langley and the naval shipyards in Virginia Beach last month. Doesn’t sound like hobby drones either.
…"Kelly, a career fighter pilot, estimated it was roughly 20 feet long and flying at more than 100 miles an hour, at an altitude of roughly 3,000 to 4,000 feet. "
Mystery Drones Swarmed a U.S. Military Base for 17 Days. The Pentagon Is Stumped.
The aricle said they wrre limited in shooting them down, but still, we have how much military equipment that could track these things, follow them…etc…
I don’t think it was images. China can probably get what they need on that from satellites. I suspect it was some other intelligence collection possibly radio interception. It wasn’t just one balloon there were several I think at least 5 were discovered.
What I’m saying is I find it normal that they are not blasting airspace violators out of the sky without investigating first and assessing if there is any threat.
They were tracking that balloon before it entered Alaska, down through Canada, and into the mainland in Montana area. They had high resolution images of the payload. They could have clearly downed it up Montana, and only risked hitting a few cows.
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t they say most of theses drone sitings are in the area of the Picatinny arsenal and I believe that Picatinny is a weapons testing facility. I’m guessing that it’s the Army doing some sort of trials on a new type of drone, which would explain why they are doing it at night. This will remain a mystery until these new drones show up on a Battlefield in a few years.
A couple of posts from the local Faceplant page. This was around 9:30 PM. Also, the local town Faceplant page in Ocean County had multiple residents posting around 10:30 PM seeing a bunch in the air… what the heck is going on??
Oh, and everyone can sleep soundly tonight, because Murphy has it under control:
Gov. Phil Murphy reiterated that there is no threat to the public “at this time” from recent drone sightings over New Jersey.
“We are actively monitoring the situation and in close coordination with our federal and law enforcement partners on this matter,” Murphy said Thursday in a statement on his X account.
Florham Park Police Chief Joseph Orlando said that local law enforcement has been pushing its state partners for answers about the drones.
“While we currently have no evidence or information to indicate these drones pose an imminent threat at this time, their presence appears nefarious in nature,” Orlando said in a written statement.
