And then #FPM
Looking into mini-loudspeaker options for my drone. While this mystery is still fresh I want to fly my drone in the same towns while playing the “ACK ACK ACK” sound from Mars Attacks:
EDIT: Oh crap, this could actually happen!:
This is starting to sound more and more like a military exercise.
These drones must cost tens of thousands of dollars at the size and duration of flights described. Multiples, flying in coordination…
Then we get the “nothing to see here” statements from our officials.
Massive drones with flashing beacons, no one can grab an ID off them? Like these were built in some ones garage?
Maybe they DON’T want to grab an ID of them? We have technology that lets satellites listen in on conversations on the ground, but we can’t ID these drones?
Really??
Or, it’s just China doing what they want, since they control our government and control Brandon… just like the balloons…
Now, sightings being reported in 10 counties. Strange with so many reports, we don’t have any reports that the FBI or State Police have tried to track them or follow them in helicopters, and no one has reported seeing any land… Hmmmmm, why?
It was just a matter of time. I expect this won’t be the last one shot down. Drones don’t need an awful lot to take them down, just one or two propellers damaged and, crunch.
I wonder if lasers would burn out their cameras…
While allowing it every opportunity to deploy any nefarious payload that it theoretically could have been carrying…
I hope a good citizen finds it and secures it for an independent investigation. Otherwise it will end up in the dust bin of conspiracys along with the kennedy assasination and the shoot down of flight 800.

Ohhhh. You’re serious. ![]()
My son and I were talking about that. If someone (China) was looking to stir up some issues, even a table top sized drone could drop an interesting sized payload. Target a few power substations, water treatment plant, drop a few into an open air football stadium, or other large group of people, and things will get pretty “sporty” in short time.
I’m just wondering, is this really something new, and certain areas are being “tested”, or have all these drones been flying for a while, just the general public is more aware of them now, and actually making a point to look for them… and guess what, we see more of them, because of all the new attention…
About 10 of these drones just flew over my house in Manchester Twp. They are pretty big, I’d say around 6’x6’ and surprisingly quiet.
Annnnd you don’t have a confirmed kill if a few of them??
This IEEE article is about ten years old but gives an idea of why drone detection will ultimately become necessary.
Drone Detection Using Sparse Lidar Measurements
Abstract:
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) have been serving people, fulfilling various roles in research, industry and military, not to exclude personal entertainment. They have also been in use more often for malicious purposes, such as annoying neighbors, disrupting air-travel, attacking people or infrastructure. Therefore, motivated particularly by malicious uses, the research community has been interested in proposing solutions for detection of UAVs. In this work, we present a ground based aerial target detection system using lidars, relying on sparse detections rather than dense point clouds, with the aim of not only detecting but also estimating their motion and active tracking. We lay a theoretical groundwork to analyse the performance of such a lidar based detection system and help understanding its limitations. The work is complemented with field experiments utilizing a state-of-the-art lidar and several drones of different sizes, showing effectiveness in both detection and tracking using sparse measurements.
So who do you think are flying them? They coming out of joint base maybe? 6x6 isn’t a hobby drone.
Who knows, I would think it has to be some government agency or someone contracted with one.
The weird thing to me is that with all of the reported sitings and media interest you would think that someone would have seen them taking off or landing. My only thought would be that they’re taking off from some sort of secured facility or perhaps a ship off shore that their not telling us about.
I said the same thing. No one has followed one to see where it comes down? They can’t stay up all that long.
Apparently there’s more interest in these drones, with Ocean and Monmouth County Sheriffs out looking for them:
The mysterious drone sightings across New Jersey seem to be increasing, prompting the Ocean County sheriff to send out its drone unit to track down the unknown flights.
Meanwhile, Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden has released a map with sightings. He is calling on federal and authorities for more transparency and increased tools to find the origin of these flights.
Mastrondardy said the drone unit has so far detected drones that are three to four feet long, twice the size of those in the unit, although another law enforcement agency reported one as large as eight feet long. The unidentified drones have been seen in Berkeley, Lacey, Lavallette, Point Pleasant Beach and Toms River, he said.
I was listening to 101.5 a bit while working today. They were discussing this. Several people said the drones come out at 8pm. One woman said the ones near her house follow the same flight pattern every evening. The same woman said she has had several (I think she said 10 -12) flying around her home at the same time.
If regular citizens know what time the drones appear and what flight pattern they are following how can the FBI or Homeland Security not know more?? Or they know, and aren’t sharing.
