No. Jersey Mystery Drones

Im skeptical its anything other than a standard drone flying at night.

Why would someone fly a drone at night with beacons if its up to no good?

Nothing actual points to illegal behavior, just a bunch of people throwing CT’s.

The only thing odd is a few drones being spotted at once.

Its no different up here with guns… “did anyone hear those gun shots!!” , yes ma’am… its sussex county… get used to it.

As someone who flies model planes and helos, the last thing we need is the FAA further up our ass.

I thought the implementation of Remote ID was supposed to solve this. Strange, another hurdle that law abiding citizens have to pay for that’s supposed to be for our “safety” that isn’t fixing the issue.

lol!

Per the course, the law abiding pay for all this regulation. The bad actors continue to ignore it.

Our flying field luckily got a FRIA exemption, so i havent had to purchase hundred dollar Remote IDs. Yet if i fly one of my helos an inch off my 3 acre property im in FAA violation.

When was remote id implemented? Perhaps there was a decade, or more, of drones manufactured without the tech.

#2 high brass. Good for about 1200ft.

It was implented about a year ago, officially.

Regardless of manufacturer date, there is no grandfathering.

If a uav over 250grams takes flight it must have remote ID.

This will get really interesting once Trump comes to town and shuts down the airspace entirely.

Like I said, only affected law abiding citizens. Having my Part 107, I had to replace my older noncompliant drone for a new compliant model, as external modules that are linked to a single drone would have cost hundreds.

Another “good idea” that doesn’t fix the issue. Only makes compliance more expensive.

Typical .gov solution.

Damn, all I have is 00 buck.

From the article link below:

…" Because the drones fly most frequently at night, it is hard to gauge their size, but some have described them as big as a small car."

I’ll fly up there and measure one for you, if you like.

Also reports of fixed wing aircraft, maybe like a reaper drone:

… Witnesses have spotted the cluster of what look to be drones and a possible fixed wing aircraft. We have reports from the public and law enforcement dating back several weeks," the FBI said in a statement."

A “possible fixedwing aircraft” has materialized into a reaper flying in NJ night skies?

Yeah right! Does anyone realize you need an airstrip for those? So if it was it’s totally on purpose and FBI wouldn’t be investigating.

I think it’s something else. Probably misidentification and people freaking out over nothing.

Everyone has a phone with a camera…. There’s got to be some pictures or video

Well, yeah. u need a runway for reapers, but that’s like ancient tech now. There are several fixed wing VTOL droness now and many use fuel tanks instead of battery backs. They average around 100 to 120 mph.

Even the ones that run on electrons are impressive since the propellers arent doing all the lifting so batteries last much longer. Functionally they are similar to the osprey but look very different.

Fair enough but still want to know what nefarious purpose is going on or suspected? Doubt it being some sort of practice strike or surveillance operation.

I like to see more of the activity.

Yeah, it’s a good thing they haven’t invented hand-launched fixed wing drones yet…

Oh, wait…

Would that be the same FBI that let a Chinese spy balloon fly completely across the country unmolested?

And they work extremely well taking night vision photos 1000’s of feet in the air when dark, right?

A standard iphone camera can see better at night than a human eye.

You wouldnt be able to spot a drone if it were 1000’s of feet in the air at night. Maybe just see some dimly flashing lights.

I have personally seen very large rc airplanes, 100" wingspans, become dots in the sky just below 500 feet during the day.

It still makes absolutely no sense to me that drone operators would give themselves this much attention with motives in mind, and do it routinely.

That’s not a Reaper is it?

Who knows. Which 3 letter agency is responsible?
