Me personally I prefer full-size for easy accessibility quicker draw time but also prefer compact for easy concealment comfortability plus now a days they make compact 9mm double stack, which do you prefer??
Personally a full size gives me too much stress, constantly thinking it’s printing. I know most people wouldn’t notice it, but it’s always in my head. I have mc9, mc9 prime and iwi Masada slim that I rotate for carry. While the Mc9 is the smallest and easiest to conceal. I don’t shoot it nearly as well as the others.
Small size in warm weather
Large size in colder weather
Or just get one of these in between size guns (LOVE mine!!):
S&W M&P45 Shield M2.0 TS 45ACP 3.3" Barrel 6+1/7+1
MFG Part Number: 180022
UPC: 022188867244
And 45 ACP because we can’t carry more than a 10 round magazine in NJ anyway,
and besides, why shoot twice ?
Neither I’m going with hellcat pro my summertime carry @ fn509 irons for colder discreet carry and my trusty Glock 45 all 9mm one to the chest will make anyone grab chest fall or retreat
My philosophy is to carry the biggest gun I can conceal. That changes with the weather.
In the summer, when I usually wear t-shirt and shorts, my carry gun is a Sig P365 with a Wilson Combat XL size grip. That hits just the right combination for me for slimness and length that it disappears under a t-shirt but is long enough to get my pinkie on the grip.
For the cooler months, I carry a CZ P-01. It is approximately Glock 19 sized. Because of its slightly larger size it is a little easier to shoot accurately, but still conceals well under a thicker shirt.
Why not both? I rotate between a 1911 and a J frame
Wow a 1911 which one do you carry and it’s gotta be heavy and uncomfortable
Baby???
Baby in the sense I can’t wait to get home to it everyday always with me at range even on rifle days always clean and well oiled
P365 here! Both thumbs up!
I have one of those, too. I don’t carry it day to day, but I do use it for IDPA CDP division.
I did my own trigger job with EGW parts. The slide movement on mine is smooth as butter and you can’t beat the scalloped slide serrations on the E-series guns.
I really like carrying a 1911. It is heavy and big, but it’s nice and flat. I did carry a Glock 21 with a Surefire X300 and found out I did not like carrying that for the brief time I carried it. Once it was time to requal for work, I stopped carrying the duty gun.
I guess I like carrying midsize glock45/fn509 not too small where it’s tough to get a good grip consistently when drawing fast and not to big to where it weighs you pants down midsize seems like a good medium adequate # of rounds and good precise shooting
In this sad State, the larger guns don’t give any extra capacity. A micro-compact P365, Hellcat, etc. hold the artificial maximum of 10+1 rounds.
True but good grip makes for more accuracy and if you carry you can’t afford to miss and yes nj only allows 10 round mags but no law on carrying extra mags I always carry and keep and extra mag in case 10 rounds not enough so practicing accuracy while rapid fire or double taps if range doesn’t allow rapid fire and practicing reloads is imperative stay safe , Stay Ready
