No denial, no cert grant, again. The waiting game continues.

A recap of the holding pattern for Snope so far:

Whats the opinion as to why they keep kicking this down the road

Read all the Kostas Moros X/twitter posts that are earlier in this thread for speculation.

Every time you type that, I think of the left wing, liberal fact checking “Snopes”, who is always wrong…

They’ve definitely got a liberal bent, and they’re not always right, but they’re also not always wrong. If you want to argue it then let’s start a separate thread.

They are waiting on something. Personally, I suspect that something was Hanson from the DC circuit. I do think they are going to push it to the 2026 session though.

My prediction is that they can address the two big outstanding issues without doing things procedurally that Roberts does not like. I think we may get the decision earlier than the last minute in 2026, and Thomas will write it. It will likely be more locked down than Bruen, and to get there they will want time to get buy in an write it. I’m guessing Thomas and possibly Alito will retire after, and that factors into the 2026 session choice as there will be the possibility of more left leaning picks under midterm pressures.

No cert grants on Snopes or Ocean State again this morning. Waiting for confirmation of relists for 3/14 conference.

Any know if there are any other cases approaching a final/pre-scotus judgment that would be encompasses here? Wonder if that’s what they are waiting for… give things some more weight. Trying to be half-full but it’s not in my nature!

There is no SCOTUS conference on 3/14 so apparently the next available conference date is 3/21 with the next possible day we find out Certiori status Monday 3/24.

No change except for the dates:

I’m starting to think that we may have lost a few of the justices on this , ACB and roberts and maybe others are trying to convince them that they are wrong.thus the dragging out of what should be a easy9-0 win

Maybe, maybe not. It could be that they are trying to get all of the 2A issues wrapped up in one case, and delaying to give the plaintiffs time to build a stronger case.

No Cert. grant on either Snope or Ocean State Tactical again this morning.

Awaiting confirmation of relists.

Depending on the timing we may need to add Duncan v. Bonta to the Cert. grant “watchlist” as the 9th circuit’s recent decision will be appealed to SCOTUS as well.

I’m convinced at this point that we lost enough justices for the cert. probably roberts and barrett.
