Any update on today scotus conference
Nope, not today.
Usually the earliest we would find out is next Monday morning after the conference.
https://www.supremecourt.gov/casedistribution/casedistributionschedule.aspx
In most cases, the disposition of a petition discussed at a particular conference will be announced in an order list that is issued at 9:30 am on the Monday after that conference
3 possibilities for Monday morning:
1 - Denied Cert. (Bad)
2 - Granted Cert. (Good)
3 - Rescheduled for next conference (Indeterminate. Only thing for sure is the possibility still exists for a Cert. grant at next conference)
Mark smith , 4 boxes diner, says it doesnt look good for cert. Potential bad sign he said
While I like Smith and he has good insights at times he is also following the inevitable path of moderately successful YouTubers in attempting to turn the most nothingburger of minor events into “major breaking news must watch” drama.
I think Mark is getting a bit too youtuber as he goes.
I think his doomsaying has to be taken in context, and a large part of that context is wanting it being heard in 2025. I think that is the primary thing at risk here. It would be far from the first winning 2a case to be relisted and rescheduled.
Seeing as it was already GVRed, I don’t see it being GVRed again.
Alito and Thomas want it. Kavanaugh and Barrett have a history of voicing dissent against AWBs. That should be four, and that’s enough to grant cert. But they don’t want to grant cert without feeling they can get a fifth vote. So there may be horse trading going on to get gorsuch or roberts on board, and the dynamics of that may have been changed by Trump winning and the GOP taking both houses. 2026 may offer a better landscape to merge it with other cases and get a single more definitive ruling against the core bullshit.
Yeah, his latest “this could be bad” video from Friday contradicted itself and his earlier videos. Earlier he had said he didn’t expect cert to be granted on first conference. Having them relisted is what we want as they use the time to research before granting cert. Then in this video he say it is not good that they didn’t grant cert despite granting cert for other cases.
Long story short: nothing has changed. Hope for a relisting on Monday and then granting cert on the 20th.
I hope that is the case
T minus 2.5 hours…
Whats the countdown to. Any news
Not sure of the history of the MSI case. Something to do with permitting schemes. May in the next year or so WE can pack the court
Tell me you didn’t read my earlier posts without telling me you didn’t read my earlier posts.
Supreme Court turns back challenge to strict gun licensing law in Maryland
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday turned back a challenge to a strict gun licensing law in Maryland.
The high court declined to hear the case in a brief order handed down without elaboration, as is typical.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court declined on Monday to hear a bid to block Delaware’s prohibition on assault-style rifles and large-capacity ammunition magazines, as well as a challenge to Maryland’s handgun licensing requirements, sidestepping two cases involving the divisive issue of gun rights.
The justices turned away an appeal by a group of gun enthusiasts and firearm advocacy groups of a lower court’s refusal to issue a preliminary injunction against the Democratic-led Delaware’s ban on “assault weapons” and magazines that can hold more than 17 rounds. Such weapons have been used in numerous mass shootings in the United States.
The justices also rejected an appeal by a gun rights group called Maryland Shall Issue and other plaintiffs of a lower court’s ruling that upheld the state’s licensing law as permissible under the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
The two that directly impact about are still in play. Ocean State Tactical’s mag ban could directly benefit us, as would Snope.
I feel the mag ban is a tiny bit more of a priority for us in NJ. If court lets a “limit” stand then theres nothing stopping them from say a 5 round limit is ok like Cryan wants to do.
Agreed, but I surely wouldn’t mind being able to buy a rifle with an A2 flash hider.
I believe if you buy an upper from Palmetto, it comes with one. At least a few years ago, it did. What you do with it afterwards is your business.
Bearingarms has a good breakdown article, out today.
