Iâm not a conspiracy theorist, but I find it very weird that every would-be assassin just happens to have a manifesto.
Why is that weird?
They donât have much, if any expectation of surviving the event, so it is understandable that they want to leave a record of why they did it.
Working on writing a manifesto would also act as a personal echo chamber, reinforcing their justification for their actions.
Itâs weird to me.
In my view, if a person is attempting to kill someone, they donât put their reasons in writing unless they are trying to incentivize someone else to âtake up the torchâ when they fail. And if that is the case, then there is definitely a central source to all these attempts. If the first fails, make sure some else tries, if the second fails, make sure some else tries, and so on.
I know this is not a new train of thought, I was just pointing that out.

A manifesto also gives the writer an opportunity to frame themselves (first in their own mind and later for propaganda) as victims and/or heroes.
Prior to the internet, manifestos were rarely published or made public. Ted Kazinski brought manifestos into popular culture the same as Columbine created a culture of mass shootings. Today, the internet provides a platform for these narcissistic screeds disguised as a rational justification for murder. to wit, thoughts becoming words, words becoming actions.
Manifestos start out as an internal process where the author creates a framework for justifiable murder, the writer sorting it out as they codify their narcissistic self important rationalizations.
This too. It is part of a subculture where one frames themself as a martyr, in hopes of their âsacrificeâ (in many cases suicide by cop) becoming a contagion. An interesting example is The Laughing Man from Ghost in the Shell. An example of how common grievances are the x factor for infection through pop culture.
I think you miss a key facet of âTake up the torch when they failâ.
When your goal is removing substantial opposition to your political position, no single incident is going to get the job done.
The unibomber had a manifesto because he knew there were not a lot of people where he was and ultimately he knew that he needed to persuade others to his position.
You have the trans mass shooters⊠they wanât to convince people to eliminate everyone who doesnât agree with them. This is a lot of people.
Now you have, according to the news trying to play down the far left violence, a centrist who wants all people who vote red and their elected officials to be eliminated.
