I have an AR-15 and thinking of putting a bi-pod on and not sure if 6”-9” or 9”-12” is better. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
For me I find the shorter is sufficient and less weight.
For prone shooting, the 9-12 is best.
Off the bench, the 6-9 usually works
The ones with longer legs are mostly used by hunters that shoot from sitting, kneeling or propped up positions. You will be able to use a shorter legged bipod in more situations than a long legged. If you think you will be shooting from positions that require long and short, you can get a short bipod that takes accessory leg extensions.
I started off with Harris 9-12’s and they’re in my parts box now. Now every gun I have with a Harris is a 6-9” because you can always put something under them, but it’s impossible to make them shorter.
I’m also running an Atlas and an Accu-Tac on precision rifles which allows me to put the legs at 45 degree angles… allows you to get closer to the ground with a longer leg.
Thank you all for the help.
