US DOJ drops SBR charge against J6'er

Interesting development in the case of U.S. v. Taranto:

https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/67607958/united-states-v-taranto/?filed_after=&filed_before=&entry_gte=&entry_lte=&order_by=desc&page=1

I haven’t followed the case previously, but short synopsis:

Taranto has a set of charges stemming from participating in 01/06/21 “activities”:

Later in 2023 additional charges were added for illegally carrying a “SBR” and a “pistol” (Counts one and two appear to be for the same firearm, a CZ scorpion with a pistol brace) in Washington D.C.:

Yesterday, the DOJ moved to dismiss the SBR charge (only) “in the interest of justice”:

Maybe DOJ is getting serious about ignoring B.S. ATF interpretations?

While the guy was an absolute dumbass, dropping the SBR charge was the correct move.

He had a braced pistol and a handgun, not a SBR.
