In the market for a reddot on my pistol. Im considering the RMR HD (3.25 moa) or SRO (2.5 moa). I know the differences, pros and cons from reading. Im curious what others opinions on the two are. Which you prefer and/or why.
What are using the pistol/red dot for? For duty use, go with the RMR. The RMR design is stronger to withstand abuse better. For competition use, go with an SRO.
I have a couple of SRO’s with a 5moa dot on my competition pistols. The bigger dot works better for my astigmatism.

We have just under 100 RMR’s in service on duty guns (G45) and have had zero failures or reliability issues. That said, I put holosuns on my personal firearms.

The pistol will mostly be for competitive shooting.

I suggest you go to a few local matches and see what competitors have on their pistols for carry optics/limited optics.
There’s a USPSA match in Old Bridge on Aug 23rd.

I have the RMR, however if you are using it mainly for competition shooting, then the SRO will give you a quicker and bigger sight picture. You can’t go wrong with either one though.

For competition you want a bigger sight window as others mentioned. While the SRO got there earlier than the competition, it is 1) expensive and 2) not terribly reliable. Given the pricing of larger window optics from vortex, holosun, and osight, I don’t know that the SRO makes a lot of sense.
Also do some research on the gun you plan to put it on. Some guns do not like having the cantilever style dots and it can cause ejection issues.
