Whats the deal with this? they are neither handgun or long gun and to my knowledge not directly addressed in the statutes. Is it assumed that they are not treated same as long guns because they are not specifically mentioned as allowed to transport with FID. Handguns used to be to and from range only, which expect is still true unless one holds a CCW.
Going by NJs MO of everything is illegal unless expressly allowed suggests they are treated like handguns, even though not directly indicated.
From speaking to local & State police it is my understanding that “Other Firearms” are treated the same as Long Guns in both NJ required paperwork (C.O.E) and in NICS back round checks so I will assume they are to be transported in the same manor as a Long Gun - they are not treated as a handgun…
So then, the same as a shotgun. As long as unloaded and FID is on you, you are GTG?
As I see it - yes, correct - Same as a rifle or Shotgun…
