The Wonderful World of Aviation

Went down to Pax River today to check out the museum. It was fantastic! Learned a few things, for example, John Young from the first shuttle launch was also an Apollo astronaut. Anyway, here are few of my favorites from the day.

Cool stuff. I was interested after your post so looked up the info:

Looks like a good little museum, I’ll have to remember if I’m ever down that way

Cool! I have a friend who was stationed at NAS Pensacola during 9/11/01. That’s the home of the Blue Angels. We went to their museum and also had fun watching them practice at another date.

A few years ago on the old forum @planenut posted a bunch of links to air museums and I’ve been checking them off ever since. Today’s trip was to the American Air Power Museum on Long Island. They have a lot packed in there… really cool and unique place. The C47 was the one they had at the recent McGuire air show.

NAS Pensacola is on my list for this Fall!

I’ll have to check my pictures. I don’t remember seeing a Thud (F-105 Thunderchief) the last time I was there.

Years ago in the early 90s i would regularly go to the warren grove bombing range and the air force guys would let you up in the tower and and watch the planes strafing the parachute targets and dropping the BDU33 dummy bombs. Still were flying A4, A6 . Not sure if its open to the public anymore.

That’s pretty awesome! Can’t imagine they still do that though…
