So is the Tarus curve legal to carry in NJ
it has a trigger guard and belt clip? Or do I need another holster?
I believe it would need to be in a holster regardless.
It technicly comes with a holster (sort of)â
I can see where that can be a bit of a greay area, but it does cover the trigger
nj is a PITA I cant seem to post pic but it does have a sort of holster its covers firing mechanism , however the clip is on firearm itself, maybe ill email US law shield and get opinion
holster must be a sheath or device that securely holds the gun in a ready position but also covers the firing mechanism so it is inaccessible while in the holster. A sheath that merely slips over the weapon is not compliant.
I donât know. In this situation the holster part (belt clip) is separate from the trigger guard. Not sure if that would be considered part of the holster.
If I attach the clip to the plastic holster part would that could work?
After looking at it, a few comments. A) It looks like the gun is made to be worn with and without the holster. B) the holster has a lanyard, perhaps to attach to something so it breaks away when the gun is drawn and C) I hope you have tiny hands.
For a handgun that size, think there are much better options, with better ergonomics available.
Thatâs my two cents.
That may satisfy the requirements:
The way itâs written the âholsterâ is a single device that performs multiple functions, holding the gun in place while covering the trigger.
While you might be able to find a way to satisfy these requirements, changing the mounting of the clip may make it unbalanced and not carry properly. Let us know what you decide and how it works out.
Iâve no idea how NJ would treat the Curve if used as a carry weapon, but the reviews seem to indicate that you may not want carry one regardless. Here is but one:

The linked picture of the sight picture for the iron âsightsâ would be enough to warn me off, and they also note that the built in laser isnât really daylight visible, they say the trigger pull is long and terrible, and they were only able to fire shotgun-like groups with it.
Having Taurus written on it is a sign to keep away.
Marginally better than a KelTec.
NJ requires the holster to cover the body of the firearm. I donât see that on this gun.
Itâs a $200 pistolâŠRun away!
interesting what is âmain bodyâ defined as? My other holsters for my Kimber or whatever only covers 50 to 75 percent of front slide and trigger area?
For purposes of this section, âholsterâ means a device or sheath that securely retains a handgun which, at a minimum, conceals and protects the main body of the firearm, maintains the firearm in a consistent and accessible position, and renders the trigger covered and inaccessible while the handgun is fully seated in the holster.
This is New Jersey. They donât want clear definitions so they donât bother with them. All the better to keep the population in fear of what they might be doing wrong.
Or it could just be pure incompetence. I donât know.
