State of Emergency Today 7-31-25

A state of emergency will go into effect across all 21 counties in New Jersey starting at 2 p.m. Thursday as severe weather moves in.

Acting Gov. Tahesha Way put the order in effect, citing the threat of flash flooding, damaging wind gusts and intense rainfall.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with some areas possibly seeing up to 7 inches. Officials warn the storms could lead to landslides, rock slides and flooded roads.

Remember. 2” of water can knock you off your feet. 6” can move your car.

Be safe out there guys.

We had a burst for about 15 minutes of heavy rain and wind around 2:30p. Lots of police and fire running around right after that but not much since just a few sprinkles.

Some foreboding thunder and moderate to light steady rain in eastern monmouth. I think the storm tracked south.

Anyone in brick, TR, marlton

TR checking in, Heavy rain and back ground thunder and lighting around 5:30 -6:30 then settled down to a light rain.

About an inch or two of rain.. Lost power for a whole minute…

I think that’s called a Summer time thunderstorm.

What was the worst was the non-stop FEMA warnings on my phone, for thunderstorm watches/warnings and flash flood warnings, both which never came.

I think the weather people are knee-jerking too much, after that Texas tragedy. Problem is, they keep “crying wolf”, and going to make the people ignore future warnings.

Murphy got caught by surprise early in his first term when a snowfall resulted in icy roads and snarled traffic. He was chastised for not declaring a state of emergency, so ever since, he declares a SOM every time there is a forecast for a couple of raindrops or for more than an inch of snow.

Storm hit pretty hard in Bridgewater/Bedminster around the 287/78 area… then it pushed east.

Headed out at about 5PM to Lakewood for the 2A4E Diversity Shoot at WeShoot. Most of the initial rain had passed so it was mostly residual traffic. A couple spots of heavier rain and saw a couple big puddles in Lakewood at intersections, but nothing like the storm that hit 2 weeks ago where it caused massive flooding around the 22 corridor.

Italy, probably.
