Howdy folks. It’s time for us to get together again and turn some money into noise. Come join us Sunday April 19th at the Stafford Forge WMA shotgun range (see map below) for a morning of clay busting and paper punching fun. You do not need a hunting license to participate.

WHO: You, family, friends.
WHERE: Stafford Forge WMA trap and rifle ranges (GSP Exit 58)
WHEN: Sunday April 19th 2026
TIME: 0900 (we will be setting up at 0830)

Please leave a comment to let us know if you will be attending, and if you will be bringing guests. This helps us plan for supplies.

Shooting commences at 0900 and keeps going until we get bored, run out of ammo, or hear mom calling us home. Shoots usually go until about 1300, leaving plenty of time for everyone to join the fun at any time.

As always, these meet-ups are casual gatherings, just plain old fun to promote shooting sports and training, please feel free to bring friends and family.

Shooters of all experience level are welcome. If you have never shot clays or rifles, or want some tips on improving your skills, this is your chance to dust off that ol’ shoot’n iron in your closet and get some practice.

What you will need.

CLAYS: Bring your shotgun(s), as much #7.5 or #8 lead target/field loads as you want to shoot, and depending on how much you want to shoot, a carton of clay pigeons would be great. Don’t forget eyes and ears. Also recommended is a chair, sun screen, insect repellent, and something to drink.

RIFLE: Stafford has an excellent 100 yd range with five or six lanes for rifle up to 30 cal.

If you do not have a shotgun or rifle, and just want to see what long guns are all about, a loaner pump action and 22 rimfire rifle will be available.

Don’t forget eyes and ears. Also recommended is a chair, sun screen, insect repellent, and something to drink.

Basic Checklist

I’ll make this one:+1: I have a O/U that I patterned but, haven’t shot at anything flying through the air yet. I’ll bring a case of clays also.

Aw heck, bad timing (for me) - I’ll be away. Otherwise, I’d have been there with my thrower. Have fun!

I have a match in the opposite direction so won’t be at this one.

@scorpio64 - suggest putting this in the first post (I know you’ve got an image of it butttttttt…If you put in “Stafford Forge WMA” into most GPS/Nav apps you end up at the wrong place.)

This is a google maps link to the actual Shotgun/Rifle range location:

Lat/Lon:

The topic title literally says range, and there is a map in the post. None the less (im ze yisaheakh otkha) I added it to the top post for those who may not realize that we are having a range day at a range. :face_blowing_a_kiss:

btw, I have not forgotten. You have that POS Primary Arms red dot from my camo rifle inbound.

Darn, wish I could come along I gotta business meeting during that time.

We, or at least I, will prolly be there until 3:00. Shoots usually go a bit longer when we do both rifles and trap.

Unfortunately the meeting I’m going to is out of state.

I did forget.

I have .357 brass for Sudsy I’m bringing.

I’ll be bringing the Garand. Would love to see some other milsurp rifles if anyone is willing to show them off.

I can bring my SKS. I have a steel hanger with chains I can bring also.

Can this be used at WMA?

yes but must be hung properly to prevent ricochets.

I’m watching weather, 40% chance of precip.

I’m seeing closer to 60%. We can always reschedule?

Question, can the rifle targets be moved closer to zero? I have a PRS style rifle that needs this.

At Stafford, you can put targets pretty much anywhere inside your lane. When zeroing a new optic, I usually start at 25 to get on paper them move out to 100. Rimfire spinners and self healing ground targets should go at least 50 yds and AR500 steel for centerfire should be set at 100. Those are not range rules, just some good practices for safety.
