It’s worth it to me as I have started traveling for training purposes so having the NJ permit allowed me to get my Pennsylvania and Utah permits which reduces the chance of any hassles in other states.
As a retired IT security professional, I can give you a pretty good (IANAL) guess on that one. The way web browsers work is that the pages ARE downloaded to your PC to view and (if a form) complete. I am not as familiar with smart phones, but I very much doubt that Android or iOS work any differently in that respect.
Let me start out by confessing that I have not read this whole thread. I have heard other people express the same concerns as the OP, that obtaining a NJ carry permit is expensive, time consuming, and generally annoying. And that after obtaining one, there are limits on where one can carry. I believe that is exactly what our rulers want. Making the process so demanding ensures that many people, even some who are enthusiastic defenders of 2A, will not go through the process. Yet, last I heard there were over 40,000 permits issued, and despite the earlier warnings that widespread concealed carry would result in blood in the streets and people shooting each other over parking spaces, not of that has happened.
Let me add that I recently applied for my renewal, as my original permit expires on March 1st, 2025. I had heard that renewals required the same process as obtaining a new permit, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was considerably easier. There was no submitting forms in triplicate, no need to have my signature notarized, no need to submit a passport photo, no need to be fingerprinted again, no need to have references sign a paper form, and since I had re-qualified about a year ago, no need to do the mandatory training and qual. I was able to complete the whole process online in less than a half hour, but it did require fees of close to $250. Unlike the original, there is no urgency in obtaining my permit, as long as it comes through before my current one expires. Worst case, I may have to go through a few days to a few weeks of not carrying.
The most annoying part for me is all the sensitive places, especially establishments that serve alcohol. Every time we head out for a day trip like Cape May and walk around and shop etc, and go to grab lunch or dinner I have to go back to my truck to place it and lock it up in my safe, even if I’m not drinking
There are a handful of states that have a similar restriction. I try to plan ahead and find BYOB choices.
I try but it doesn’t always work out that way, so back to the truck I go
It is my AMEX card. I never leave home without it, because you never know. I have had carry permits for other states and I traveled a lot and it boarded every flight. I strapped on, upon arrival. I never felt uncomfortable about it.
I carry EVERYWHERE, except Work and Government buildings
