Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the new Bodyguard 2.0?

I bought my wife the 380 EZ Performance Center. Its only 8 rounds but an awesome gun. I read all the reviews on this new bodyguard and now I want one. It is way smaller that it looks.

My wife was checking this out at RTSP in Union. They have a couple in the case but none for rent. She likes the size but can’t barely manipulate the thumb safety it is so tight. Even with the safety issue she’s still interested but would like to try before buying.

There is a guy who takes factory S+W safety and tig welds a beautiful extension onto it to make it an easily manipulated safety. I bought one for my shield and it now works as it should. I have pics if you want to see it. It takes virtually 5 minutes to install it.

Sweet! Do they make one for the Bodyguard 2.0?

I would think it is the same safety but I am not sure about that. I posted a link to this new forum over on Reddit to maybe grow the membership. I also sent the link to GFH. Thanks for starting this forum up again.

Thanks Tunaman!

Who makes that extended safety? Do you happen to have a link for that?

I have one, its in my pocket all the time now. Awesome little shooter. I recommend it! I have the NTS version.

Welcome QuickMick!

Oh man not helping me say no to this.

The guys name is Brian Beard. You can reach him at shieldthumbsafety@gmail.com
I dont know if they fit the new Bodyguard 2.0, but I bet he could weld one on to your safety. Let me know how you make out

Thanks! I’d probably get a second safety to do this in case I end up not liking it.

I have 2 spare factory safeties here if you can find out if they are the same. They pop right out with one pin and simple to put back. They do look a little different as far as the stippling goes but I dunno if the rest inside is the same. Maybe a call to smith and wesson but I dont know if they will tell you that. They might.

I started another thread on this gun, but then I saw this one and deleted mine.

Two questions:

I see that they are offered with a ported barrel. Is this really necessary on a .380?

They are also offed with and without a thumb safety. I’m leaning toward the safety, but would like to solicit opinions here.

I have this gun in the comped version with the manual safety.

Meh. I think it’s more of an aesthetic choice. I’ve shot the original and liked that and there is a slight difference but not sure most will notice. You will get a bit more gas in the face with the comped version. The comp does add to the overall length.

The safety on my Bodyguard 2.0 was initially so stiff I needed both hands to operate it. But after a few hundred manipulations over the course of a week or so I can now manipulate it one handed without breaking my grip, it just needed to be broken in.
