Suppressors are the #1 item I wish we could have in NJ. This legislation is probably the best chance of that ever happening: https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/8306/text
I realize this keeps being reintroduced every so often but we can hope right?
If this were to pass nationally and suppressors were then treated like stocks or any other accessory you could even make yourself how would that affect us in NJ? Could NJ still ban an item no longer on the NFA?
Iām a bit shocked nobody has challenged NJās ban on suppressors in court. As someone who receives a hearing test as part of a mandatory physical for work, this is on the top of the wish list for me.
I think it is because our district is a waste of time when it comes to this stuff. We need national level rulings like Bruen to help us here behind the iron curtain.
I think that suppressors will eventually make it off the NFA list, but we have more fighting ahead.
Personally, I think itās stupid they are NFA items in the first place. They are an accessory, not a firearm, and should be sold over the counter like buying a magazine, or an optic, with no $200 tax stamp.
On the brighter side, most NFA approvals are running extremely quick these days.
My first suppressor was a 10 month wait for NFA approval.
My second one was 4 days. I bought my 3rd last week, and it was approved in 2 days.
unfortunately, I have already blown out most of my hearing ability! I canāt recall all the times at the range where I got distracted and forgot to put on my ears!
The AK-47 was the worst! Every mishap collectively destroyed my high frequency hearing!
Sweet! If you have tried, how do they perform as far as the sound reduction? Besides the reduced report do you find any other benefit such as reduced recoil or muzzle flip?
They need to ditch the tax as well as the prohibition rules here in NJ so we can enjoy these freedom accessories
I have about 300 or so rounds through the .300BLK pistol, shooting both supers and subsonics.
With subsonics and the suppressor (ResilientāJolene Sā), it is hearing safe. The can makes a big difference with supers, but I wouldnāt shoot it without at least some hearing protection.
Not much muzzle flip, or recoil with subs or supers. Havenāt shot it in the dark yet, so I cannot attest to muzzle flash, but I doubt there is much, if any.
I literally finished putting together the 5.56 version two hours ago, so I have no idea how it will perform.
I am pretty sure it will need an adjustable gas block, but want to test with and without the suppressor (Dead Air Sierra 5) before buying anything.
With the 7.5ā barrel, it wonāt, by any stretch of the imagination, be hearing safe with the can, but Iām certain it will mitigate the noise a good bit.
If I can get out of some meetings either tomorrow or Friday, Iām gonna head to a local indoor range and see how it cycles, and dial in the red dot.
Between meetings, I took Shit Weasel Mk2 to the range for testing. I fired 60 rounds total.
Unsuppressed, itās gassed perfectly.
With the can, itās pretty over gassed. Ejecting at 2 oāclock even with an H2 buffer. Iāve ordered a Superlative Arms AGB. With a little tuning, it should be good.
The can makes a big difference, but itās not hearing safe. Slight POI shift to the left and down.
Ideally, Iād like to tune it to run suppressed and unsuppressed with an H buffer. That being said, 95% of the time it will be shot with the can attached.
The AGB will mitigate some of the gas to the face, and the gun wonāt be as hard on parts.
