Shotgun zero distance

Anyone else here using red dots on their shotguns? I’ve started using them, and have found that they have held up well and make target acquisition almost like cheating.

My question is at what distance are people zeroing them? I will be using them primarily for training classes and for the unlikely case of home defense, so probably out to around 25 yards, with an occasional shot with slugs out to 50 yards.

Couldn’t find much on the web about this.

Very yes to dots on shotties.

Usually zero with slugs @ 25 yards, been finding that also is “close enough” for trap use with #8 shot, but I’m all ears for better methods.

The RDS on my 870 s zeroed at 15 yards for buckshot. I have no trouble busting clays at 30-40 yards with no adjustment. I do not shoot slugs so can’t help with that.

We had two members at one of our shotgun shoots busting 100% of their clays with bullpup shotguns with red dots
It was an eye opener

I zero at 50 yards with slugs and check my pattern for #00 at 25 and 50. If your pattern is still fairly concentrated, fiqure hold over for slugs at 100 just because.

Thanks for your replies. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
