Thanks - I’ve been thinking about this a bit.
Assuming there’s no change in the politics or the funding for SNAP/EBT I’m assuming that food banks get exhausted around 11/5-11/7 and THEN there starts to be lots of hungry people.
Thinking about warning family/friends to be especially wary about the walk from the checkout counter to the car at any food retailers (Grocery Stores, Walmart, Target, Costco) if we get to 11/5 and there’s no significant change in SNAP/EBT.

I’ve been reading A LOT about this exact thing, the walk back to the car. There’s been tons of videos on Tik Toc by a certain crowd, that this is exactly what they will do… After all, they think they’re entitled to “Free Food”, one way or another.
Everyone needs to warn their families, if they go out shopping after Saturday, to shop in groups, and keep their heads on swivels.
You can’t even rule out Flash Mobs doing a group steal at any store. This might be one of the first tests of the guys who are CCW when shopping… What will you do if attacked for what’s in your cart?

Depends entirely on the situation:
Surrounded, but I can leave if I give up the food? Fine, take it - I’m not going hot over $200 worth of food.
Block me or anyone I care about from leaving or start physically attacking us? The Kydex is going empty.
That’s the thing, you never know how it will go. Desperate people can do desperate things.
Keep some raw meat in your pockets. If you get attacked, just throw it on the ground and run. It works on just about every animal.

Another problem with food stamps (SNAP) is the fraud. SNAP card holders often have an arrangement with some local convenience store. What they do is buy a $5 gallon of milk for $25, and the shop owner hands the SNAP card holder a crisp $20 bill, maybe even more. SNAP users cannot legitimately get cash back the way debt or CC holders can at places like ShopRite. This is their “hack”to illegally get cash.
They do this so they can buy liquor and cigarettes, and probably drug dealers do not accept snap so card holders convert snap balances to cash for drugs.
Smokers, alcoholics and the otherwise addicted will become agitated, if not desperate, when the free money for their hobbies dries up.

Trump admin announces partial funding for SNAP following court orders
The Trump administration on Monday announced it would partially funding SNAP benefits, aka food stamps, after multiple federal judges ordered them to keep the benefits flowing.
Roughly 42 million people currently receive SNAP benefits, averaging $190 per month per person, the Associated Press reported.
False Alarm… The Trumpster says no SNAP for you, until the government opens back up. So, keep your eyes open and your awareness up, when shopping.

No mention of where the food to fill the containers is going to come from or who is going to pay for it.
