No, That was just for the primers I saw at the last Oaks PA. show.
Last time i bought primers i think a tad over 30 bucker per K was the norm, these prices are nutz comparatively.
primers used to hold around 3.5 to 4 cents a piece. it wasnt until the hoarders and resellers came along that the price got inflated and stuck.
What I find interesting is the price of 22lr (the original hoard and resell item) has largely normalized but primers are still stuck at near 2x the normal market price.
At the top end I think 22lr was as high as .15/rd and is now around .06 to .07 per round. Primers are now what, .07 to .12 per. Why hasnt the price of primers deflated lke the rest of the market?
I still kick myself for not loading up on SPP when they were $35 for a thousand. That was my first purchase, wasn’t sure if reloading was for me or not yet, so I didn’t want to buy a lot.
Shortly after that the prices skyrocketed, if you could even find them.
I learned in 2008 to never get caught with my pants down again.
Where are you located
Norma USA is selling them. https://normausa.com/product/small-pistol-primers/
Fantastic price!! Time to buy!!
Makes me wonder why its so cheap, and how cup hardness compares to others.
Many report report no issues, even with striker fired guns. Others said the cup hardness is about the same as CCI small rifle primers. I would try these in .223/5.56 in a heartbeat.
I just did a deep dive, reading up on these Argentine primers
Seems they are slightly soft causing some cratering around the firing pin strike, but no flattening - in other words, they work fine.
Works for me at that price!!
I shoot 150 - 250 12g shells per week and reload them. I can get a pretty decent shell anytime without much effort. I just finished a factory set up with hoppers for wads & hulls. The initial machine cost was high but well worth it over time. MEC 9000 press with electric drive & foot pedal control works great. I keep 3 machines set up for 3 different shells. Yes, the area looks like I’m ready for the war but it’s nice to be able to shoot what I want, when I want.
Agreed. Prices for pistol ammo. Especially 9 are kinda low now. But on the other hand rifle ammo isnt. Also for pistol you can game it if you comp shoot and make power factor. Also rifle ammo hand made will get you accuracy for each rifle. Its not always about cost per round. All my pistol ammo is poly coated. I dont have to worry about copper build up
Brownells has no hazmat fee for limited time. Might be worth checking out their inventory if you need something.
Norma just gave me another 5% off if I completed my order for 5000 SPP. Comes out to 253 with tax but free shipping and no hazmat. I ordered them and will report back. I dont even need them but for 5 cents each delivered it is the cheapest option available. Probably just as good as any other primer. We shall find out.
I’m actually looking to get out of it. So many components and equipment to sell off still.
Any .44 magnum stuff?
Just bought a S&W 29 and all I have are dies, not even good ones, just Lee’s, could use components and decent carbide dies.
A buddy of mine has got me going to the range now pretty regularly. I cant even think about offloading anything looking at the price of boxed ammo.
Ive got like 8lbs of Retumbo if anyones looking to buy any. I never got around to purchasing a .338 or 300win mag rifle. Im sticking with .308, .223, 9mm and .45 for now.
