.308 AR build is coming together - starting to think about an optic for it.
Any recommendations?
When I can afford it, I buy Leupold, but for value, you cannot beat the Vortex Viper PST II. I bought the 5-25x50 for my 308 DMR. It is exceptionally clear, very nearly as good as Leupold. It is a first focal plane reticle so the subtensions are correct at every level of magnification. By far, the most useful feature is the ability to remove the dials after zeroing and reset them to its actual zero. You don’t have to remember where zero was.
It is on sale at Midway right now for $599.00, I paid close to $800 for mine two years ago.

What is the spec for the rifle?
On my cheaply built 20" I put a Athlon Midas Tac 4-16x with a Warne 20moa mount. It makes decent hits out to 1200 yards
On my slightly better spec’d 16" I have a Trijicon Credo HX 1-6x
It’s a palmetto state armory PSA10 with an 18” stainless steel barrel
Depends on how much you want to spend. I have a Nightforce ATACR 4-16 on an ar-10 and a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15 on a Tikka 3x bolt. These scopes are built like tanks and weigh about the same.
