I belong to the NRA and pay the membership fees. Are there any actual benefits to joining? I know they lobby the government, but as an individual do they actually help or do anything for us? Just curious.
Many outdoor ranges in NJ will not let you join unless you are an NRA member. The only outdoor range I know of that does not require NRA membership is Range-14 at Ft Dix. Dix is a good deal for vets, membership is 50% off.
I dunno about indoor pistol ranges, they all have memberships but no idea on NRA requirement. guess the commercial ranges don’t care as long as you hand them cash. There is a tiny private club indoor range near Raritan, they require NRA membership..
I hated the NRA for years because of Wayne LaPierre, but he finally got booted out. I need to find out if there was enough of a culture change before I decide to join again. WLP was like Eddie Murphy’s girlfriend, He just wanted to party all the time.
In recent years, the NRA and ANJRPC (NJ arm of the NRA) has actually done some good things for NJ, but that was because we had some very wealthy gun owners and lawyers involved, so the NRA can’t take credit for all the rights that were clawed back.
If you asked me this question ten years ago, I’d have said fuggedaboudit. But now I cant say being a member is a complete waste.
Not here in NJ.
Hell, it’s been over 6 years since we got restricted even more, from 15 round to 10 round mags, and they haven’t even been successful in reversing that one.
