I was on a webinar last night (5/1/2025) and NRA atty was touting that the NJ assault weapons ban was struck down by courts (however 10 rnd ban) still stands? I dont see any substantive change to NJ banned firearms illegal attributes i.e. detachable mag not in grip, folding stocks, bayonet lugs, pistol grip, threaded barrel, non-pinned flash suppressor / compensator. So what is it that was struck down??? Again as with the carry permit the courts drag decisions hoping that we all just move on. It shouldn’t take years to make decisions.
Not to my knowledge. NJ residents still are legally bound to observe the NJ AWB that has been on the books since the 90’s. Would love to know more details of exactly what he said.
Maybe he’s talking about the recent decision by (now retired) Judge Sheridan that exempted ONLY Colt AR-15 specifically marked rifles.
The Judge did something weird in that case.
He claimed that the plaintiffs only complained that the Colt AR-15 ban was unconstitutional and struck down the ban on those explicitly. He left all the other named “assault rifles” as banned and also left all the prohibited features in place as well.
This means you can have an AR-15 with Colt markings, but it is still banned if it has too many evil features.
yup as i thought useless
Is there a recording of the webinar available? Can you share the invite link for the webinar here?
I looked unfortunately there is no link to a video that I could find
Checking email, I did receive the invite:
Going to check past webinar I attended to see if they make recordings available.
If you do receive a followup email with a recording or a “summary” document please let us know.
I’d really like to know if we have a game of “telephone” going on or if NRA-ILA is really that misinformed about the state of things in NJ.
