No Safety Chambered, Safety on Chambered, DA/SA or DA only for carry?

I have all of the above in carry weapons. How do you carry? and why

Most of the time it will be my p365, safety on chambered, striker fired/DAO. Alternatively I will carry a 1911, safety on chambered, hammer fired/SAO. Occasionally a revolver no safety, hammer fired DA/SA.

Personally I prefer a safety. Been doing it that way for so long with 1911s and such it’s never been an issue with manipulation for me. The revolver’s trigger is so heavy I don’t really have a ND concern with that.

Why do I prefer a safety? I suppose peace of mind. I tend to forget I’m even carrying at times and have fallen asleep on the couch and not looking to add any ventilation while tossing around. I’ve also tripped over some junk and took a spill in my garage once which caused my gun to pop out and took a trip across the floor… was glad the safety was on.

I carry either

  • no safety, chambered, SA or DA only (depending on your definition - glock)

or

  • no safety, chambered, DA only (revolver with enclosed/non-accessible hammer).

Location is always appendix for both (with very, very rare exceptions).

I rely on keeping the trigger inaccessible (covered by a holster) for safety. Once the handgun is in hand I only want to deal with pulling the trigger to fire it.
