Joe LoPorto @ NJFOS:
I want to personally congratulate Jack Ciattarelli on his impressive win last night, securing all 21 counties across the state.
But just as important, I want to congratulate our endorsed Assembly Candidates.
Robert Auth and John Azzariti defeated Frank Pallotta to win the nomination to retain their seats in District 39.
Victoria Flynn and Gerry Scharfenberger defeated challenger Rich Castaldo to win the nomination to retain their seats for District 13.
In District 36, Diane Carscadden DeBiase and Chris Musto won their primary to challenge sitting democrats in what may be one of the most competitive districts in the state this fall.
In District 38, Rob Kaiser won his primary and will be on a ticket challenging incumbent democrats in another potentially very competitive district.
With the primary over, in the coming weeks, we will be releasing our preview on the general election, including ratings on all candidates in all districts and a special focus on all of the key districts that we now need to flip in November.
Our political focus is and has always been on the Assembly.
Those flips are critical to bringing back any amount of bargaining power for gun owners in the legislative process.
The primary is over, and we must now have unity and focus on the task ahead. Defeating
Mikie Sherrill and restoring balance and sanity to our state legislature. In addition to providing timely information here, we are going to continue to focus on direct outreach through our partnership with Early Vote Action. In the last few weeks we lead a very successful petition initiative on H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act and H.R. 404, the Hearing Protection Act, to make NJ gun owners’ voices heard on important federal legislative initiatives. These activism projects are an important way for us to make it clear that we are more than just a voting bloc.
We will soon be announcing another major petition initiative so look for updates soon!
And, as Mark P Chessmen said well yesterday, while this is an important year from a political perspective, our organization’s primary goal is getting relief for gun owners in the federal court system. ICYMI, we once again sued the Murphy administration on Monday. That was the first of many more litigation projects that we will be rolling out soon.
We want to change the political landscape in Trenton. But we are not naïve. Clawing back our rights in court is the only direct path to restoring the Second Amendment in New Jersey.
