CCP has a cost of $450 minimum and has to be be renewed / repaid every 2 years
Isn’t that an exclusionary cost for people of lesser means (often in unsafe neighborhoods) ??
A bunch of years ago NJ tried to make permit fee’s very expensive, it was shot down by the state courts for the same exclusionary reason.

when i filled out my online application, the system only took 75 bucks…i’m guessing the balance is collected by the pd when i’m approved?

I included the $200 training class fee
The way I read it you have to take it every two years when you renew (I could be wrong)

Good new is most of the qualified instructors have begun offering reduced fee requals. $75 seems to be the going rate.

$75 ???
Took mine today - $150 and from what I could find shopping around I got a really good deal as a club member.

Copy and paste from the NJ State Police page…

I took my initial and CCAARE here and he’s now doing separate requalification at $75.
Iron sights academy

This is most likely because a renewal does not require doing the classroom portion to teach use of force again. That takes far longer than running the applicant through CCARE.

For those who’s renewal is coming up, don’t forget that the requalification almost everybody had to do when CCARE was published in Sept 2023 is still valid. It is good for 2 years and CCARE is not 2 years old yet. Submit the SP-182 that you were given when you did your requalification and you’re good to go. Save yourself the time and expense for this renewal. You’ll have to do CCARE again next time you renew.

Why CCare again? If they were already trained on it initially thats all the state asks for..
Just a requal should be GTG.

CCARE is the qualification. It specifies firing 10 rounds at each of 3, 5, 7, 10 & 15 yards.

You cannot requal without CCARE.

Not enough coffee. I read that as use of force…

this is where i has my questions. when i did the renewal stuff online, the system only took 75 bucks.

You have to pay the rest to your PD. The online system only takes NJSP’s share.

My town doesn’t have it’s own PD so NJSP get the $200 and the background check fee which is all paid through the website.
