Ruger PCC
Second vote for the Ruger, have a backpacker and enjoy it.
Rugerâs PCC is sweet, and has a lot of aftermarket goodies too. That said (ducking for cover) I know the Keltec PCCs get mocked a lot, but they just work and are very affordable. The Planet of the Apes gun is ugly as sin, but itâs like an AK, you canât kill them. There are a lot of aftermarket offerings for that one too.
Has anyone tried the Springfield kuna?
Sandeep1920,
Using Glock mags, your common choices are Ruger PC Carbine ($650-900), Keltec Sub 2000 ($500) and Henry Homesteader ($900-ish). Springfield Kuna ($1600) is nice and small, but does not take Glock mags and requires an ATF/AOW tax stamp. I work at Shooters Hardware in West Creek and we have all 4 of those, plus Others and AOWs, for you to look at.
I have owned the Ruger PC since it came out in 2018 and I can 100% recommend it. A bit heavy, but easy to shoot and take care of. I too have the MagPul Backpacker stock for mine. I recently took home a Sub2K, but I have yet to put any rounds thru it. I do love the folding aspect of it for easy traveling.
If you are planning of shooting USPSA, the top dog is pretty much the JP5.
Another vote for the JP5⊠or if you can find a good used JP GMR-13 or GMR-15. These PPCâs run well from the get go.
Thanks
I really like JP5, i will keep an eye on used one too
I highly recommend building one on an AR-15 platform. Start with a lower and transfer it as an âOther.â Keep the overall length around 26.5 inches, and youâll end up with something thatâs both very shootable and practical.Itâs also fairly affordable compared to many factory PCC options. I own four PCCs, including Ruger, S&W, and Chiappa, and my AR-platform âOtherâ is by far my favorite.
Thanks for your input.
Can you pm list of parts needed for others!
Iâd rather answer here in the thread so others can use the info too.
My build started with an Aero Precision lower, which was around $169, a PSA upper for about $300, and a PSA lower build kit for around $159. PSA has tons of upper options depending on the look, barrel length, and setup you want.
That being said, I probably would not use the Aero lower again next time. My original reason for going with Aero was that I planned to use an Aero upper too, but those seem to be sold out everywhere. In the end, the PSA upper worked out fine.
The main thing to keep in mind is overall length. If you go with a barrel shorter than 11.5", you may need an extended buffer tube to stay over 26" OAL. I tried to keep mine around 26.5" just to have a little room.
There are also a lot of benefits to going the âOtherâ route, assuming everything is configured correctly. You can run a folding brace, and if the OAL is over 26", you generally donât have to pin/weld the muzzle device the way you would on some rifle builds.
Thatâs basically it. I did end up swapping the brace from an SBA3 (came with a kit,) to an SBA5, but that was just personal preference.
Also, donât forget the vertical foregrip (!!) thatâs a big legal must for OTHERs
I used ChatGPT for parts selection and OAL calculations, and honestly it worked great for figuring out what would fit together and keep the build where it needed to be.

Check this diagram too for calculations
For PCC, Iâd say forget going for an âOtherâ and go full AOW route. Its a lot more fun and you get the full benefits of having a PCC in a smaller / more compact form factor.
Second the AOW option. I went this route when GHM9âs were readily available at a fair price.![]()
Damn. Iâm actually trying to get an SPC9 AOW at the moment but this lawsuit w/ B&T USA & B&T Ag is making them impossible to find for a reasonable price.
How do you like the GHM9 and whyâd you go that route vs. the APC or SPC?
All 3 are good choices. I liked the lower profile of GHM and the cost of course.![]()
Check with Trinity Armament
Yea - have already spoken w/ Trinity and 2 other AOW FFLs, no SPC9âs at the moment. ![]()
thanks in advance.
pls share info when you find two (1 for me)!
