Need a whiskey recommendation

Irish whiskey kicks my ass worse than Tequila.

Darn it, I missed this. Good choices! If that OF Master’s Collection gets opened, be sure to try some!

Anyone looking for some nice bourbons, Old Forester 1924 and Wild Turkey Rare Breed are delicious, higher proof and available all day long everywhere. Definitely good values and great flavor profiles.

For something a little more exotic & harder to find but not super expensive, look for store picks of Old Forester Single Barrel Barrel Proof. These come out once a year around mid to late October but can still be found. They run about $75 to $100 and are generally delicious. Very high proofs. Generally 120 - 135ish.

Larceny Barrel Proof is good. Harder to find. They come out about four times a year and are always a little bit different. Some iterations are better than others.

I could go on and on about different bourbons. LOL. Thank goodness the “bourbon craze” seems to be starting to die down somewhat.

Cheers!

I really don’t like alcohol outside of cooking, and got recommended Featherbone to give as a gift by someone who cares a lot about whiskey. Got a taste of it, it’s actually pretty good tasting. Sooo.

About $60 if you can find it.

Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof to name a few good ones that are available but definitely not run of the mill.

Premium Kentucky Bourbon | Basil Hayden®

Oddly, Basil Hayden’s makes me sneeze. It’s the only bourbon that does that to me.

If you are new to Bourbon and want to try something nice (IMHO), a little hard to find and nicely priced then keep an eye out for Evan Williams Single Barrel.

Lower proof, each bottle will taste slightly different and can be generally be found for $35 - $40. I wouldn’t pay more than $40 for it.

Its a nice every day sipper.

I’ve had this. Really liked it.

Evan Williams is about the best bang for the buck bourbon on the market.

Top shelf flavor at bottom shelf prices. It mixes well, and is also nice neat, and on the rocks.

Basil Hayden is a great everyday bourbon for me - but a lot of “purists” call it a baby bourbon as it’s only 80 proof…

What do the purists know? Generally speaking, I am not a yuge fan of the hi-test paint peelers.

If anyone is ever in Burlington County, there’s the Recklesstown Farm Distillery. I recently picked up their Windy Lane bourbon whiskey and it’s decent. A little pricey but not unexpected for something local.

Guy’s try Coopers Daughter Black walnut, you won’t be disappointed.

Available at some total wine.

Wow there are so many good Bourbons out there, if you want to get a really good one there is a 750ml of Old Fitzgerald for about 200. It’s better than Pappy IMO.. if you want a really good affordable 1792 small batch is outstanding for $40.. Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace is a staple as well (both from the same distillery btw).
