I made a post about the district 11 election and I cant find a trace of it? where did it go
Check here: First Amendment Lounge - New Jersey Gun Forums
And that goes back to a point I made a few weeks ago. Only 47 out of 526 members have access and know about the 1A Lounge. Less than 10% can be involved in those conversations. Revenger isn’t on that list.
I assume people will eventually find it. You are welcome to invite others.
You DO realize what ASSUME means!
Only 9% of the membership has found it, at this point. Let’s face it, we know this is a gun forum. But, there’s more to life, for many people, than just guns. Current events affect everyone, and everyone has an interest in them, specially politics.
So, hiding popular topics behind the 1A wall, leaves a lot of interesting topics hidden to 91% of members.
My thought, if you want to increase participation and interest to the membership, and keep them coming back, then other POPULAR topics of interest should be available to all members. And I didn’t even touch on the lurkers, who are reading and hiding in the shadows. Give them another reason to sign up and participate.
Topics of general interest will get members to come back more frequently. And if you get them to come back more frequently, they will also read the gun related sub forums too,
I appreciate the thoughts but we will not be making any changes. If members want to see those posts they can join the 1A group. The category will remain member only and hidden from public view.
Incorrect. It means 479 members are not interested in joining the 1A section. Any member who is active on a regular basis knows the 1A lounge exists and what it is. We are not going to change the policy so one or two users can get more attention.
The old forum was poorly run. There was a password protected 1A section that was easy to get in to. That is where the political discourse was supposed to take place. It didn’t. The mods on the old forum did not enforce the rules, and the entire forum became a $#!% show of crude and acerbic rhetoric. We have restored civility and good order, while giving those who wish to post their political discourse a place to do so.
NJ GUN Forums is a firearms forum, not a political forum. Naturally, politics comes up often in gun forums, so we researched the most successful gun forums and modeled our policies after theirs. A separate opt-in section for NSFW jokes and political rants is standard practice for well managed firearms forums.
The policy works great for successful forums with well over 100,000 users. It is simple as that.
Now that we all understand each other, this thread is locked. There is nothing further to discuss.
