Building a .308 AR.
What’s a good muzzle device for an 18” .308 upper with a stainless steel barrel (to be pinned/welded)?

18” barrel with a brake only needs to be pinned
(and they just happened to test on the same rifle I’m assembling)
I have a VG6 Gamma 762 on an 18” and its great.
Surefire brakes work well. The 5/8x24 ProComp is $89 on MidwayUSA right now
I’ve a fan of the Surefire Muzzle Brakes on mine P/N# SFMB-762-5/8-24
Whatever you get, make sure it is as loud and annoying as possible for people shooting to your left and right. Anything that does not knock stuff off your neighbors shooting bench is plain garbage.
The Lantac Dragon is always a crowd pleaser if you want to blow stuff off of the benches to your left and right and make people question the effectiveness of their ear pro

I have learned to play the game. 7 Rem Mag and 308 mag dumps usually do the trick.
VG6 Gamma and crush washer ordered.
VG6 Gamma has been on backorder ever since November - moving on, been waiting too long.
WTF is up with .308 muzzle brakes!? Just about everything “quality” is out of stock or ebay/gunbroker scalper availability only.
How about this:
Edit: I have 2 of these, 1 in 5.56 and one on my .308 bolt action. Happy with them.
Meh, don’t want that model. Looks like I’m going to pay double for another surefire:
I have the Socom on my 5.56. It’s a great break. I use the Surefire Warden to keep the noise/blast forward. Another plus is, if suppression ever becomes a reality all Surefire Socom suppressors work with it.
