Medicaid and home care

so…i’m running outta loot. mom will be on medicaid before the end of this month. i’ve been calling every agency i can find that lists as accepting medicaid…they all say they don’t in nj.

so…anyone know an agency that does?

What type of services are you looking for from the agencies? Maybe list a few, and some members might have experience with them. Also, I’m confused, did you contact NJ based agencies that claim they accept Medicaid… but they don’t in NJ?

we went by an apparently older list that the lawyer has of agencies. none of them accept it. a couple of the numbers were dead. we informed them of that. he gave us a second list, with the same results. i google-searched “home care agencies in new jersey that accept medicaid”, and visited the websites of a half dozen that were at the top of the non-sponsored portion of that list…most didn’t confirm or deny accepting it, but when mome home care aid called them they all didn’t accept it. this seems to be a new jersey thing, as those who serve multiple states do accept it in pa.
mom is perfectly able to be home as long as she has help for most of the day. she needs help getting up when she wakes, and she cannot shower alone. often she needs help going to the bathroom, though sometimes she manages without help for that. she cannot cook for herself at all(and i don’t want her trying.) the agency i’m with right now is costing me about 2700bucks every 10-12 days. i was able to swing it for awhile, but i’m just about outta loot. i will not remortgage my house for this, nor am i gonna take out a loan. even if i did mortgage it…i can only do it for 80 to 100k…and that’ll barely get me a year in exchange for 30 years of debt.

we’re trying to keep it so that moms current aid stays with us. she is willing to move to another company provided that they offer benefits better than what she’s got now(and that shouldn’t be hard). wherever she moves to she’d be bringing a client with her.

Has she officially qualified for Medicaid, with finances and the look back?

the lookback’s clear. got 1 more legal paydown to do and her financials will be in order…then the application’s gonna be filed.
