Wondering if anyone is using this type of configuration. You can normally run a red dot on the top of the LPVO or a side mount. I have been using the side configuration for a while now. Turning the rifle while keeping a check weld seems more stable and faster on target. In comparison to, popping my head up to use the red dot. Thoughts on this?
I don’t run a secondary optic but if I did I like this setup vs a top mount ![]()
I would use this set-up too, but on the other side as I’m right handed.
Its not to expensive to do. Cheap side mount from Amazon that mounts to top rail. A used RD that can handle 5.56 ammunition. Thats where I started. I made the mistake of buying a close RD mount and could not clear my LPVO mount.
Because Im lefty scum.![]()

top mount is the only way if you’re using it passively for night vision.
Very true. This particular rifle is not set up for passive aiming.
I don’t use a secondary, just make sure your LPVO is good at the 1x. I am still a fan of the RT6 which is older but still ranks high on the interwebz
I recently tried out a 45 deg red dot on my Frankenrifle, I liked it. The red dot was a bit big and couldn’t easily get to the power switch, so I’ll probably get a smaller cheap reflex or a shake awake type.
