LPVO......why?

Why not just call it a scope?

I’m not military. I’m not law enforcement. Been using scopes and red dots for decades when hunting.

Is it a marketing thing? Advertising?

Gotta be honest. It annoys the shit out of me when someone says LPVO. It’s a scope! Call it a scope!

LOL.

Rant over.

LPVO is a subset of scopes. They have variable magnification, typically starting at 1x.

Scope as a general term would include pretty much anything with a lens, so you would run a scope on a .338 Lapua Magnum rifle, but not an LPVO.

It’s just a description for a type of scope…similar to other descriptions like a red dot or a prism, etc.

A12-36x scope Is a scope too. Lpvo is a specific type of scope. It’s used because being vague isn’t really helpful.

We could all say we drive a vehicle, or be more precise by saying I drive a sedan, coupe, pickup, SUV, etc…

LPVO is a certain subset of scope that typically goes down to 1 or 1.5x and can bridge the gap between a red dot and a traditional magnified scope. Because of it’s do-all nature, it’s the jack of all trades but master of none. A good option for a do-all rifle though.

The term I can’t stand is MPVO… because until LPVO’s came out (that should be separated from the pack because of the ability for a 1x power), an MPVO was really just a scope, and very much still is.

What kind of scope… oscilloscope, microscope, rotoscope, stethoscope, Scope mouthwash??? WHAT KIIIIIND!!!

I prefer Listerine

EDIT: LPVOs are for those of us that can’t decide between a red dot and a scope.

I like them, got 3 so far.
