Looking at a 22lr plinker .. 22/45 lite or Charger takedown?

Years ago I had an SP101 in 22lr and I sold it because I honestly hated cleaning the cylinder out (I know, I know).

I am looking for a 22lr plinker as well as something I can teach the littles on eventually.

I was pretty much sold on the Ruger 22/45 lite and then the Charger takedown has peaked my interest as well.

Given NJ’s laws .. are either of these options even legal as they have threaded barrels etc.?

Secondarily, if they are both legal .. whoch would you choose? I already have the 10/22 takedown and love it so the charger is intriguing but it doesnt seems to offer the same handgun experience that the 22/45 would imo.

I have heard good things about Ruger’s 22lr Wrangler single action revolver.

I’m a Mark III Target and 10/22 Takedown owner.I’ve seen both of these guns sold in NJ stores so they’re both legal. Though there might be versions of the Charger that may not be, you’d have to do more research. 22/45’s are good to go though regardless of threaded barrel.

A great, low cost starter gun is the Taurus TX22. It is lightweight and has a relatively small grip so it is easier for small hands to control it. The trigger isn’t terrible either.

It is also way easier to field strip and reassemble than any Ruger Mk pistol.
