Anyone have any experience with this pistol? Starting my Merry Christmas to me hunt, have narrowed it down to a double stack 2011, the Kimber looks interesting, also looking at the Wilson Combat EDC, if I go with the Kimber I can also swing a Ruger Mini-30, though not necessarily a deal breaker with the Wilson. Wish someone had it for rent. Did ready a couple post that the optic screws snapped when they were removed, but all in all the pistol has good reviews.
I don’t have this particular pistol but i want one
I have a Kimber Ultra Raptor II and zero issues with the firearm. My only gripe with Kimber is they won’t sell me a spare set of factory grips. This kind of blew my mind. They said they’d replace them if I had a problem… but I have no problem I just wanted a spare set of grips on hand in case you can’t get them 20 years from now if I do run into a problem and they are no longer around.
I try not to purchase safe queens and if I were to get the Wilson Combat I’d probably not shoot it all that often. For me I’d go with the Kimber/Ruger combo as I think I’d get more enjoyment out of them but that’s just me.
I have a Kimber LW in 9mm and it is probably my favorite pistol, more accurate than my shooting capabilities, I have large hands and installed a set of Altamont finger groove 1911 grips, have been super happy that I did, you can really get a solid grip with them, even installed a set on my SA Ronin .45. Leaning towards the Kimber.
Shot my KDS9C today, if you’re thinking about one, go for it, shoots like a dream, balance is excellent, recoil is minimal, follow up shots come natural, muzzle rise is almost none existent. No failures straight out of the box.
Sent in my rebate, received two spare mags and very high texture grips 7 days later, the standard grips are just too smooth. Pistol shoots like a dream, nephew has the delusion I will sell it to him at a nephew discount. Poor kid!
Found a discount code WELCOME15 I used to order some micro9 and additional KDS9C mags, worked, saved 15%.
Even the very high texture grips are a bit smooth, it’s the style of cut they use, the cuts are deep just not angled to create a sharp grippy edge.
Other than that complaint, all I can say is WOW.
