Jump Start Battery Pack

I had a fantastic jump start battery booster, but it died, and now looking for another. That thing was great because it would start an 8 Cyl with a dead battery with ease.

Now I’m seeing these tiny lithium ones and not interested because I also used the old one during power outages with an inverter to keep my FiOS going.

Any recommendations on a lead acid or deep cycle battery pack, I guess they call 'em power packs or power banks now.

you won’t regret getting one of these.

that looks pretty beefy. I was hoping for one with a built in USB outlet but I guess I can just use a USB ciggy plug.

The old one was great to have when the power went out, kept FiOS running for like two days.

I’ve been using the Noco GB-40 for a few years and it’s worked every time I needed it for small cars and even a jet-ski. They come highly recommended and also double as a USB battery bank for your phone if needed. They have more powerful models if your vehicle needs the additional amperage as well.

A lifepo4 battery will hold a lot of power and be very light weight. They are taking over the battery bank market for a reason.

They also hold charge for longer. They arent even much more $$ than a deep cycle.

How much of a charge will they hold? I need a pack that will hold at least 10 to 15 Ah.

The Clore ES5000 that Cap suggested holds 77Ah, that’s impressive. CAn prolly run my FiOS network interface and the router for a few days.

The Lithium packs are super convenient and I know a lotta woman that have them because of the small size and light weight. Storable in the glove compartment. But I need something with a bit more Umph.

Is your inverter seperate?

You could texhnically use a 100ah lifopo4 and a storage charger for it if you already have the inverter.

There are alot more battery bank options than jumper units for vehicles with high Ah

yes. I actually bought it just so I could use it with the jump box. The jump box already had a usb outlet and a 12V outlet.

The Lithium batteries can provide a lot of current fast, and thats what’s needed for that first couple cranks when the draw is the highest. I’m sure they work great. But they do not have the storage capacity.

I ended up picking up that ES5000. It has quite a bit more capacity (28 Ah) than the one I’m replacing. Imma happy camper.

they also have one major advantage…that may not matter to many, but i have had need of it a few times. with thesmaller lipo jump packs, you cannot run the vehicle on them. with the es5000, you can indeed run the vehicle on it. as in…your alternator(THAT is what runs your vehicle, the battery bolted next to the engine is backup) shits the bed…get the booster pack hooked up and you’ve got at LEAST 5 minutes of runtime. circuitry in the smaller lipo packs prevents this. at least the ones that i tried a few years back.

Might just be a feature baked into the jumper pack.

Some cars, and moslty all motorbikes are being sold with lithium lifepo4 batteries these days.

it is. i believe their reasoning is to prevent rapid discharge and thus prevent overheating it. either way…it’s not as useful as it can be
