Jones Road Wildfire

Over 8,800 acres burned so far, probably more by now.

Anyone here affected by the fire, evac’d, lost power (Oyster Creek powered down),or getting smoked out?

The smoke and the smell is terrible in Toms River

I can smell it here in Pt. Pleasant too

Yep… me, it’s almost right in my backyard. Lost power around 6 PM last night, came back on around 2 PM today. No evac in my neighborhood, but in the next neighborhood they were. Have soot all over back patio, and now, since the wind is really calm, the smoke situation is the worst it’s been, since it’s hardly blowing away.

Maybe It’s me, and I’ve become bad at finding information, but it seems like there is a severe lack of REAL TIME info on the fire.

Exit 74 on Facebook does real time reporting. I was also listening to the fire scanner getting real time updates.

Still really smokey in the neighborhood this morning.

And in other news, they caught the arsonist that set the fire:

NOT HIS FIRST RUN-IN WITH THE LAW 🚨

Joseph Kling, 19, of Waretown—now charged with Aggravated Arson for the 15,000-acre Jones Road Wildfire—was also arrested just three months ago after a brawl at the Lacey Materials site. In that January incident, Kling faced two counts of Simple Assault and Endangering an Injured Victim. Full details: https://patch.com/…/8-charged-after-fight-lacey…

(All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.)

It was a bit smokey in Eatontown last night. it seems to have abated.

Read an article that some car detailer is making bank on the smoke and ash damage. I suspect house power washing services will be busy too.

Stay safe, everyone!

Hang him. No need for due process.
