Investable pistols or revolver

Which currently available pistols or revolvers would you think will be collectible as an investment? I’ve read a Colt Python or some 1911’s.

Beautiful Colt. Afraid to ask the cost?

They are out there for anywhere between, $3400-$4500 retail, this was a private sale, friend needed cash.

That thing is NICE! :+1:

I have a Walther P38 from WWII my grandfather brought it back with him so I didn’t pay for it.

Stupid question - would you ever shoot the Colt? or is that a no-no for collectibles?

There are no stupid questions. We are all here to learn :+1: I’m interested in Redeye65’s opinion also. I’d suspect it will be kept pristine and unfired.

Personally I can’t bring myself to purchase anything that I’m not going to shoot and enjoy or worry about being scratched.

The colt will never be shot, it’s going in a custom presentation case with a glass lid under a hard lid, suede lined with the colt name surrounded by 6 cartridges arranged in a circle like they would be loaded in the cylinder, the case lid will have the mustang carved in it, brass hardware, A brass plate above the cartridges will have the information of the piece.

Not shooting it I thought was going to be a major issue also, but once I had it in my hand, I felt it would be a shame to ever shoot that pistol, it really is that gorgeous. One of my nephews will crap their pants when I pass.

With not shooting the colt a fire was lit and now I’m hunting for one I will shoot, they are hard to come buy for a reasonable price. Always clones out there though. But, it isn’t a colt.

Tokarev pistol. Is still plentiful on the market much like the mosin once was. Can be had in the threes online and in the twos if you get Lucky at a local store. Mine is a blast to shoot. I would consider this an alternative to the 1911.

I have a late 70’s Python but it has holster wear so I don’t feel bad shooting it. I would be a little wierd to me to own a piece that I couldn’t use :man_shrugging:t2:

Pre-lock S&W’s never really lose value and can be found at good prices if you really dig. I have a Dan Wesson PM9 and looked up the current selling price. Not the price people are asking, but what they have sold for recently. I was very surprised……..
