Walther Pauses the PPK, Closing a Chapter Nearly 100 Years Long
Walther Arms has announced a temporary, multi year suspension of production for its classic PPK, PPK/S, and PP pistols.
The decision was confirmed in mid November 2025 and marks the first full halt in production of the line since its introduction in 1930.
According to Walther, this is not a discontinuation. The company says the pause is part of a planned modernization effort aimed at updating the legacy firearms while preserving their defining features. Current inventory has already been fully sold into the market, and pistols now on dealer shelves will not be restocked during the suspension.
Its influence carried into later Walther designs and cemented its place in both law enforcement history and popular culture, most famously as James Bond’s sidearm beginning with Dr. No in 1962.
