Does IDPA run matches for revolvers or is that an entirely different group?

IDPA has a revolver division. You would shoot the same stages as everyone else, but have to reload more frequently. The division restricts revolvers to loading 6 shots to make it a more even playing field where 7 or 8 shot revolvers would otherwise have an advantage.

Revolver shooters would need 3 (but preferably 4) speedloaders or moonclips per stage. 6 shots are loaded to make ready and 3 reloads are carried on the belt making 24 rounds available total.

Revolvers must be a minimum of .38 Special making a power factor of 105 using speedloaders or 155 if they use moonclips.

Thanks for the information! I have a GP100, which is not ideal, but is a place to start (It has a 3" barrel). I’ll have to google “IDPA matches” and see what is offered and where the events are taking place.

In NJ there is only us at Phillipsburg and Quinton who host IDPA matches.

Across the river, you can find matches at Blue Ridge Cherry Valley, Easton, Hellertown and others.

Most matches handle registration using practiscore.com. If you click “Matches” you can filter by match type and location to find matches.
