That was something !!
First time since Sandy I’ve seen the squirrels huddling around the base of the trees
Pretty big one came down in our backyard. The photos don’t show it all, it was a forked tree and goes all the way up the hill.
Missed everything important, just shy of the patio and my grill area. only took out a pair of Adirondack chairs around the firepit and few plants in the garden. The blackberry and raspberry bushes got pulverized but they’re like weeds and will come back fine
Now it’s 100 super humid degrees out there and no way am I firing up the chain saw
Was out in Belmar with family - we went beachside to get some pictures just as the front was rolling in. No rain while we were there, but went from calm hot summer night to furious winds in like 5 minutes.
Some power line poles blown to leaning (but not completely down) in my area. Luckily power is good, but have seen cell service outages in some places while traveling this morning.
I used to live up in Chatham, am still subscribed to emergency alerts from there - They must have got walloped, they canceled the 4th of July parade.
20+ feet snapped off the top of a formerly 50’ swamp maple. wind was blowing so hard it landed in neighbors yard at least 30 feet away from the trunk. I ddn’t see it happen but heard a tremendous crack when it broke off. I thought it was thunder until i felt it hit the ground.
No damage to me here in Sussex County but lost power for 8 hours overnight. Fortunately it was overnight and the storm cooled the temps into the upper 60’s. With a few fans running on the generator it was bearable.
