Wondering if anyone has shot the Speer G2 ammunition? It seems to be around the same price, ballistics and has a filled cavity like the CD. I never had a problem with set-back from rechambering as others say the CD has because I dont rechamber. I guess I’m wondering about accuracy. I’m thinking about trying a box or two.
When you say CD, do you mean Critical Duty or Critical Defense? They are quite different.
The Speer Gold Dot G2 is similar to Critical Duty, although I have not seen the results of the FBI protocol testing for G2. It was FBI issued duty ammo for a while, so I can only assume it passed.
Critical Duty is more barrier blind than Critical Defense.
Critical Defense is designed to perform in guns towards sub-compact/micro size. It will achieve the necessary velocity for the bullet to expand when fired from short barrels. Critical Duty is less sure of working as designed depending on how much slower it is from a particular short barreled gun. I would assume G2 would be the same.
For Glock 19 sized guns and bigger, G2 is going to be about as effective as the Critical Duty.
As for the bullet set back issues reported…I have been using both Critical Duty in my P-01 and Critical Defense in my P365. I have not had any issues with bullet set back. Having said that, I don’t go to many ‘sensitive areas’ so I unload/reload perhaps 6-8 times per month. Others may be doing it more frequently.
