Does anyone know of a PD that still does hard card manual fingerprinting? I think I remember that the S.P. did it years ago, but haven’t seen anything posted.

I was down in Key West on a RV trip, and my Florida non-resident permit expired. So I went to a local office, did the application, and they did a digital fingerprint scan. I had to start from scratch, as my first permit was outside the renewal window.

Turns out, I get a letter that my prints weren’t legible, and to come back in to get them rescanned… problem is, I’m back in NJ… hmmm…

So they said they won’t accept digital scans by Identogo, but I need to get the manual card done again, and mail it to them.

I’m going to check with my local PD, in Lacey, to see if they do it, but wondering if there are any other local options?

Not sure where you are but I’ve used the Mercer County Sheriff’s office. Great folks over there.

Did some searching around, seems that Identogo does manual prints at certain locations. Nearest one to me is Asbury Park. Also, I read on Lacey PD website, they do manual prints but don’t provide the actual paper card… so I need to check with them to verify tomorrow.

Florida mandates the fingerprints be done by a law enforcement agency!

My local (Manalapan) wouldn’t do it until I pointed that out, then they took care of it.

Took 3 tries before it was accepted by Fla. Didn’t like the clarity of the first set, on the second set something on the other side of the card wasn’t filled out by the the police dept. Third try was a charm, but by that point we were back from our three month trip around the country and didn’t need it anymore.

I learn something new every day. Called my local PD (Lacey), they will do manual hard card fingerprints, but they don’t supply the actual card. So. you can order the cards on Amazon (which I did), and bring them in, and they’ll do the prints.

Florida told me you have to use the cards they send you.

When I talked to them, they didn’t say anything about using their cards, just to use the official FD-258 ones.

It took me multiple days to finally talk to a warm body, and she didn’t say anyhting about using their cards. Crazy thing is, when you go to them, they use s digital scanning system to store the images. But, they don’t accept a company like Identogo to scan them. Identogo says they do scanning for many different states..

But, Florida claimed they were going to scan the manual card into their system… go figure…

This is the 21st Century, right? And computers weren’t invented yesterday, right? But Florida can’t share technology with other agencies… crazy…
