A membership to sell is very reasonable in my eyes. If someone wants to use the platform to sell and make a few bucks, the forum should get a cut.

That said, I was semi-active on the other site. Candyman87 or Candyman_87. Would support here as well.

I appreciate your support! We may later change it to a pay for access page but at least for the first year we are going forward with voluntary support.
(or we could add a payment option for immediate access - let me know your thoughts)

Currently the only restriction moving forward on the Sell page will be that you are at Trust Level 2 or higher. That would take:

  • Visiting at least 15 days, not sequentially
  • Casting at least 1 like
  • Receiving at least 1 like
  • Replying to at least 3 different topics
  • Entering at least 20 topics
  • Reading at least 100 posts
  • Spend a total of 60 minutes reading posts

After speaking with a few people on this this seemed like a good approach to reduce the likelihood of a scammer sticking around that long though it could still happen. A scammer could also use a fraudulent payment to gain access to the sell page if we have that in place so either way everyone transacting should be vigilant.

I will not be opening any subscriptions/donations until January 2025. The site will be entirely free to use until then and mostly voluntary support after. Possibly add subscription for immediate access to sell page and/or elevated Trust level.
I have added you to the Legacy Sellerā€™s group so you can immediately post in the Marketplace if you were looking to do that.

Totally agree on free at first. We are not eBay! I pretty much knew all the regular members on the old site and if they come here unknown by us just to use our community to make money. Nope!

I like the idea of pay to play and jump the line, or free after all of the above. Personally, Iā€™d pay to support, but I also come from Sniperā€™s Hide forums as well where only supporting members can post and it really cuts down on the junk.

Pay to post everywhere or just the sell page?

For the most part Iā€™d like this site to be able to help out the newbie thatā€™s here to ask a question so trying not to restrict posting too much.

Posting is free. Selling requires a membership over there. Most people find it fair. But thatā€™s just one site.

Got it! That seems to be the norm for most sites similar to this.

Considering this site is brand new you would have limited eyes on that sale ad and I donā€™t want to discourage anyone from trading by having to pay right now. We will keep it free through the end of the year to try and build the number of subscribers. If come the new year the community only wants those that are supporting members to have access to sell thatā€™s what we will do.

Please spread the word and encourage others you know in the NJ firearms community to sign up and start a discussion. If there is a category we are missing please let me know in the Site Feedback.

Hey. I used to browse the old forum. I donā€™t know exactly all that happened, but its unfortunate it went down. I would like to sell some ammo locally and a few accessories. I think the $36/yr subscription is completely reasonable, so I would support come the new year if that decision is made. In the interim, Is it fine to post now? I just made this username to join so I wouldnā€™t be Trust Level 2 yet. Is that level only for buyers though? Thanks a lot for the work youā€™re doing.
