I wasn’t a seller on the old site, but wouldn’t mind kicking in a few bucks a year for a good cause and a new home. How ever you work it out is fine with me, I’ll keep looking for the news.
Welcome Redeye65! I’ve added you to the group to keep track of those willing to support the site. If you are paying you should get the same access as those that do. Up to you if you end up utilizing it or not. Appreciate the support either way! Thanks!
Just found the new site30 minutes ago, is there a spot to donate?
Not yet… In case this does not end up being the place to be I don’t want to take any money. If this gets wiped out I’m only losing a couple hundred bucks and some hours invested. If we have enough people willing to support come December we can open up subscriptions/donations in January.
For now honor system. If you say you will be contributing then you get access to the Buy/Sell page.
I’m thinking it should be free just like on 99% of the other large firearms forums on the net. I do sell some odds and ends and would always rater sell to the Folks in NJ if possible.
I’d love to do that but it’s just not in my budget to provide this as a charity. Servers cost money, storage costs money, email services, etc. The software is free but that’s about it.
If you have an idea on how to fund this without member contributions I am all ears. I thought about trying to get vendors to support us but I feel we would need a large community of users before that would be valuable enough for them to entertain that idea.
At $36/ year that’s $3/ month which is one less Starbucks specialty drink per month.
The fact that Mark is willing to put his own money up to kick start this forum he’s already in the red.
Again if he follows what the old forum did it’s free to post and chat but to sell it’s not a lot if he’s entertaining a yearly rate of $36.per member that wants to sell.
I’m not asking for anything from anyone until we know for sure this will be our new home. I committing to at least 3 months for that. Anyone is free to use the Buy/Sell page at least through December. I figure by then we should know if this is viable or not.
That’s fair enough, Mark.
Let us know when you’re ready to declare this site viable, I’m sure you’ll have plenty of paying members.
This pretty much has to be our new home. I’m not sure I’d go back to the other site even if it opened again. They flew it into the ground dead-stick at 5000mph and the only responsive guy the whole time was Krdshrk.
I’ll confess I liked the old user interface much better. But here we are. I guess we could make a Reddit sub, but Reddit is mostly commies.
This format while not perfect is far superior than either Discord or Reddit.
Hey i’m Silverado 427 from the old forum, Count me in
Silverado427 has been added to the Legacy Sellers Group.
Appreciate your support!
JohnnyB here! I was a Premier Member (what Maks called paid members) for at least 14 years! I always supported the board!
Hi JohnnyB - you have been added to the group.
Reminder - The Legacy Sellers Group are for members that are pledging support once we are sure this site will be our home moving forward. Tentatively looking to enable the subscriptions in January.
As of today we have 13 supporting members!
Was kc17 on old forum. Paid for a period of time, but not the entire time, partially due to the server issues. Would consider contributing here.
Hi Kevin! You make # 14.
I don’t anticipate any server issues here. I’m trying to ensure that we have enough support to pay for the resources we need. The more supporting members we have the more we can afford on resources. Hopefully this scales well moving forward.
Sudsy - I was a subscriber and will be happy to help the new site
Sudsy makes 15!
